Spaguts – Warranty program BEWARE
We bought an unusual water heater from Spaguts for about $80. Some time after installation, but before warranty expired, it began to leak.
I called them and they said I would need to return it at my expense. They couldn’t give me a turn around estimate, so I bought another unit for $80 to get the spa working. About 3 weeks after I had sent the defective unit back I received notice that the unit heating element was good. I emailed back and reminded them that it was a leaking problem.
They got back to me and said they applied epoxy to various parts, (but never tested the unit for leaks). I asked “how I would know that the unit is repaired”, the lady read me back the email the techs report, about applying epoxy. I said I wanted credit back for the warranted unit I had to buy since I couldn’t wait. SpaGuts replied that they only repair. Shipping was not covered.
I had already paid $16 for shipping to them, now they wanted another $16 to send me back my “repaired” part.
I other words, I had to pay $32 for a used, untested part. What if that leaks? I asked.
‘Send it back’ was the answer, and of course, I have to pay the shipping. I have spent $192 for a $80 repair.
